Early season is a great time to ski here in Val d’Isère.
The opening weekend sees a party spirit on and off the slopes as locals and visitors alike enjoy the first runs of the season after 6 months away from their skis.
There’s another opening party somewhere else every night, the shops all have their brand new gear for the new season in so you can get first pick of the best stuff, ski manufacturers run free tests of their new equipment and most of all the snow is usually great and the slopes really quiet.
And the prices are LOW
This is a great time to sneak in a cheeky weekend or midweek break as well as your “main” ski holiday.
Mid December sees the world famous “Première Neige” racing where the best in the World take on not only each other but the mountain as well.
A great opportunity to see the racers up close and to experience the atmosphere and bustle of a World Cup event as well as cheer on your favourites.
But this is a great time to ski as well – apart from the slopes given over to the racing, most of the rest of the mountain is pretty much abandonned.
